WF Scenery Studio has announced a major V2 update to their Hong Kong International Airport (VHHH) for MSFS 2020 and 2024. This isn't a patch — it's a full rebuild.

A Bit of History

Hong Kong International was built to replace the legendary Kai Tak Airport, which had become too congested to handle growing traffic. Planning started in 1974, construction kicked off in 1991, and the airport finally opened in 1998. Built on a massive artificial island, its 12.48 square kilometre footprint represents nearly 1% of Hong Kong's total land area.

Today it's a hub for Cathay Pacific, HK Express, and Hong Kong Airlines, served by over 100 airlines connecting to 180+ destinations. It's also the world's busiest cargo airport.

What's Coming

The V2 update features:

  • Completely rebuilt 3D models throughout
  • The new terminal currently under construction in real life
  • Enhanced detail across the airfield
  • Extensive performance optimisations

The Hong Kong Race

Interestingly, WF Scenery isn't the only studio working on VHHH — iniBuilds recently showcased their own version in a detailed trailer. Competition like this typically means better products for everyone.

After Hong Kong V2, WF Scenery plans to update Guangzhou Baiyun International with new runways and satellite terminals. No release date or pricing has been announced yet.
