WalkAround v2 Released for X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12
VFR Scenery releases WalkAround v2, a major update to its immersive aircraft interaction plugin for X-Plane, now fully rewritten in C++ for improved performance.
A new utility for X-Plane pilots aims to add a deeper layer of immersion to the simulation experience. Developer VFR Scenery has released WalkAround v2, an updated version of its plugin designed for both X-Plane 12 and X-Plane 11.
The plugin allows users to physically move around their aircraft and interact with the environment in a more realistic way. With WalkAround v2, pilots can perform a full external walkaround inspection before departure, climb aircraft stairs, and even move through the cabin while in flight. The add-on also includes tools such as a flashlight for night inspections and binoculars for observing the airport environment.
One of the headline improvements in version 2 is that the plugin has been completely rewritten in native C++, which aims to provide improved performance and stability compared to the original release. The update also introduces features such as a landing rate analysis system that provides feedback from a virtual co-pilot, along with enhanced immersion through aircraft movement simulation during cruise.
The plugin also integrates a "WalkCabin" mode that allows users to transition from an exterior inspection to the aircraft interior seamlessly. This means players can move from a ramp walkaround directly into the cabin environment without breaking immersion, providing a more comprehensive aircraft interaction system.
WalkAround v2 is available now from the X-Plane.org Store for $19.90 and supports both X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12. If you owned the original version, you can upgrade for free.
