New Studio Vector Unveils Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for MSFS 2024

A brand-new development studio called Vector has announced its debut project — a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner built from scratch for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, with a team of over 20 developers including real-world 787 pilots.

A new name has entered the flight simulation scene with serious ambitions. Vector, a freshly established development studio, has revealed that its first project will be a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 — and from what we know so far, this is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated aircraft releases of the year.

Built From the Ground Up

Vector has made it clear that this won't be a reskin or modification of the default Asobo 787. The aircraft is being developed entirely from scratch using WASM technology, which should allow for deeper systems complexity while keeping performance manageable across both PC and Xbox platforms.

The studio has been quietly working on the project for over a year, with a team of more than 20 developers spread across Europe and beyond. What sets this project apart is the involvement of active Boeing 787 pilots and ground crew, bringing real-world operational knowledge directly into the development process.

What to Expect

Based on details shared through a community FAQ, the 787-9 will ship with some seriously impressive features:

  • Dual engine variants — both GEnx and Rolls-Royce Trent powerplants at launch
  • Boeing-style EFB alongside a custom configuration tablet
  • Interactive cabin with configurable seat classes
  • Full VATSIM compatibility and GSX integration
  • Automatic step climbs and pause at top of descent
  • HUD support
  • Comprehensive flight manual with guided gate-to-gate scenarios

Vector is placing a strong emphasis on making the aircraft feel alive — responding naturally to weather, turbulence, and pilot inputs rather than flying on rails.

Release and Pricing

The 787-9 is being developed as a commercial payware product with a target release window of 2026. Both the -8 and -9 variants are in scope, with a core set of liveries included and additional packs planned post-launch.

While it's still early days, the combination of a large experienced team, real-world pilot involvement, and ground-up WASM development makes this one worth keeping an eye on. We'll bring you more as Vector shares additional development updates.
