TFDi Design has rolled out version 1.1.18 for its MD-11, and this is one of those updates that's less about flashy new features and more about making everything work better.

Quality of Life Additions

The update introduces several welcome conveniences:

  • Optional automatic window shades — a small touch, but one less thing to manage during cruise
  • In-sim SimBrief OFP viewing — no more alt-tabbing to check your operational flight plan
  • Normalised yoke position exports for third-party hardware users
  • Engine wobble animation — subtle but adds life to the aircraft
  • Minor sound refinements and reduced memory usage

Under the Hood

The bulk of 1.1.18 is a comprehensive bug fix pass. TFDi has touched cockpit textures, weather radar behaviour, door animations, lighting logic, flap and slat drag, braking temperatures, anti-ice interaction, and EFB stability. Numerous edge-case crashes have been squashed, flight plan handling has been improved, and hydraulic and electrical system inconsistencies have been ironed out.

Climb performance predictions and taxi handling have also been refined — the kind of incremental improvements that add up to a noticeably smoother experience.

Pricing

The update is free for existing owners. New copies start at $74.99 from the TFDi store.
