SimWorks Studios Kodiak 100 Coming to MSFS 2024 on March 27
One of the most beloved bush planes in flight simulation gets its native MSFS 2024 release date — complete with rebuilt systems, improved engine simulation, and existing owners get 50% off.
SimWorks Studios has confirmed that the native MSFS 2024 version of the Kodiak 100 will launch on March 27, 2026. For bush flying enthusiasts who have been waiting to make the full switch to the new platform, this is the green light many have been hoping for.
A Ground-Up Rebuild
This isn't a simple port. SWS describes the 2024 edition as a structural evolution that goes significantly beyond the visual refresh the 2020 version received in February 2025.
The systems list is substantial:
- Rewritten electrical system
- Expanded PT6 engine simulation with custom torque limiting, Ng simulation, manual override, and proper ITT modelling including altitude-dependent temperature limits
- Engine wear and damage from improper operation, including hot starts
- Smart AutoStart system that monitors ITT during startup and automatically motors down or triggers shutdown if temperatures get critical
That last feature solves one of the long-standing friction points with complex turboprop simulation — the unreliable CTRL+E shortcut. SWS says their implementation works correctly.
Avionics and Configurations
The G1000 NXi implementation has been expanded with multiple custom pages matching the real aircraft's configuration. A custom ESI500 standby instrument with full navigation capability has been added, and the native MSFS 2024 tablet handles weight and balance, charts, and flight planning.
The aircraft comes in five cabin configurations: cargo, combi, Timberline passenger, Summit VIP, and a skydive setup. Three landing gear options are available — standard tyres, tundra tyres, and amphibian floats — with over 30 liveries included.
Upgrade Pricing
Owners of the MSFS 2020 version will receive a 50% upgrade discount on the new release. Given the scope of the rebuild, that's a fair arrangement that should build goodwill with the existing community.
March 27 isn't far away. For anyone who's been holding off on making the full switch to MSFS 2024 partly because their favourite bush plane wasn't ready yet, the wait is almost over.
