RAF Valley Gets Enhanced Freeware Scenery for MSFS 2024
Developer Nattani delivers a major refresh of the UK fast-jet training base with custom military aircraft, dynamic crash barriers, and improved ground detail.
RAF Valley (EGOV), the UK's primary fast-jet training base on the coast of Anglesey, has received a substantial freeware update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Developer Nattani has built upon the foundation laid by Skell300 and Superspud to create what's being described as a complete refresh of this strategically important military airfield.
A Training Hub Brought to Life
For virtual pilots interested in UK military aviation, Valley is essential. It's where future RAF and Royal Navy fighter pilots earn their wings, and it serves as a gateway to the famous Mach Loop low-level training area. The scenery aims to capture that operational character.
What's New
The most visible addition is the custom static aircraft populating the aprons:
- Hawk T2 — the current advanced jet trainer
- Beechcraft Texan — used for basic fast-jet training
- Jupiter helicopters — for search and rescue operations
- Typhoon and F-35B — representing frontline visitors
Beyond the aircraft, the scenery features dynamic crash barriers at runway ends that change position based on wind direction and active runway. While currently appearing in set states, animation is planned for a future update.
Technical Improvements
The update addresses accuracy across multiple areas:
- Ground markings aligned to current satellite imagery
- Recalibrated PAPI lights and ILS for Runway 13
- New emissive Runway Distance Markers for night ops
- Several buildings remodeled by contributor DeadJen
Installation Notes
This is a new rendition with a different folder structure — delete any previous RAF Valley version before installing to avoid conflicts. For full functionality, you'll need the UK2000 Common Library (free from MSFS Marketplace) and Superspud's Animated Humans Library.
