MicroProse B-17G Gets Complete Flight Model Rewrite in v1.0.3

The Flying Fortress receives a comprehensive flight model overhaul using official documentation, plus War Emergency Power, a functional APU, new cockpit lighting, and three new liveries.

When the MicroProse B-17G Flying Fortress launched into early access in October 2025, the flight model was acknowledged as an initial offering rather than a finished product. Update 1.0.3, released this week, is where that promise gets its most meaningful delivery.

Complete Flight Model Rewrite

The headline change is a complete rewrite of the flight model configuration. MicroProse says the new model was developed using official documentation and refined with community input, addressing issues across:

  • Weight and balance
  • Centre of gravity
  • Aerodynamics
  • Ground handling
  • Flap behaviour
  • Trim response

The previously noted left drift has been corrected, and overall handling is described as providing a more accurate picture of how the B-17G behaves across all stages of flight. For an aircraft of this historical significance, getting the feel right matters.

Systems and Features

Beyond the flight model, v1.0.3 adds:

  • War Emergency Power — the ability to push beyond normal power limits when needed
  • Functional APU — for realistic ground operations
  • New cockpit lighting — improved night flying experience
  • Three new liveries — expanding the paint selection
  • Engine wobble animation — subtle but adds visual life to the Wright R-2600 Cyclones

Quality of Life

The update addresses a range of cockpit and systems issues, including instrument readability improvements and various bug fixes that accumulated since the 1.0 release.

The B-17G continues MicroProse's commitment to historically significant military aircraft in MSFS. This update moves the Flying Fortress meaningfully closer to the simulation depth the aircraft deserves.
