Finn Hansen Releases Oslo Gardermoen for MSFS 2024 via Orbx
Norway's largest airport gets a new rendition for MSFS 2024 from indie developer Finn Hansen, published through Orbx — entering a competitive market against Aerosoft's Mega Airport.
Orbx has published Oslo Gardermoen (ENGM) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, developed by indie creator Finn Hansen. The release enters a market that already has strong competition from Aerosoft's Mega Airport version, but it aims to stand out through modern SDK optimisation and technical accuracy.
A Strategic Hub
Oslo Gardermoen is Norway's busiest airport and serves as the primary base for both SAS and Norwegian. For virtual pilots who enjoy Scandinavian regional flying — with its challenging winter weather and dramatic approaches — ENGM is an essential destination. The airport connects Norway's remote northern regions to the rest of Europe and beyond.
Technical Focus
Where Aerosoft's version (by Jo Erlend Sund) emphasises dense terminal interiors and custom soundscapes, Finn Hansen's rendition focuses on technical accuracy and SDK-native development:
- Current real-world layout — essential for pilots using up-to-date Navigraph charts
- Three types of animated jetways — matching the specific hardware at the real airport
- Custom ground equipment — modelled pushback tugs, service vehicles, and airport buses
- VDGS support via the Nool plugin for accurate gate docking
- 4K PBR textures with photoreal ground imagery
- Terminal interior modelling — optimised for MSFS 2024's performance demands
Competition Is Good
Having two high-quality options for a major hub is excellent for the community. Different approaches suit different priorities — some pilots value immersive audio and density, others prefer performance and chart accuracy. Choose what works for your setup.
Availability
Oslo Gardermoen (ENGM) by Finn Hansen is available now from Orbx Direct for approximately €20.00.
