Contrail Teases Falcon 50 Sound Design in New Preview
Contrail shares a first listen to the startup sounds being developed for their upcoming Dassault Falcon 50 for MSFS.
Contrail has given flight simmers a first listen to the audio work being developed for their upcoming Dassault Falcon 50. The preview, shared on the developer's Discord server, showcases the aircraft's startup sequence in impressive detail.
The clip walks through the cold-dark startup procedure, beginning with battery power activation, followed by the distinctive whine of the standby Attitude Director Indicator (ADI) spinning up, and culminating in the external APU start. While brief, it demonstrates the level of audio fidelity Contrail is aiming for.
Sound design has been one of the remaining development priorities for the Falcon 50, as noted in Contrail's December update when they announced the project would need additional time beyond the original 2025 target. The team has been working with real-world FA50 pilots and mechanics throughout development to capture the authentic character of this classic French-built trijet.
First announced at FlightSimExpo 2025, the Falcon 50 represents Contrail's debut into aircraft development. The company, previously known for utilities and tools in the flight sim space, has been steadily sharing development progress including detailed systems work, cockpit texturing, and flight model refinement.
The aircraft is being developed for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. No release date or pricing has been announced yet, but development continues to progress toward a 2026 release.
