Carenado Announces King Air B200 for MSFS 2024 and 2020

The classic analog turboprop is coming back — Carenado is developing the King Air B200 with steam gauges for both simulator platforms.

Carenado has announced development of the King Air B200 for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and MSFS 2024, filling a gap that many virtual pilots have been asking about since the newer sim launched.

The Analog Alternative

While the default King Air 350i in MSFS offers a modern glass cockpit experience, many pilots prefer the hands-on nature of older analog variants. The B200, with its traditional "steam gauge" panel, offers a more tactile flying experience that requires genuine instrument scanning rather than screen management.

The preview images show a cockpit populated with physical dials and mechanical indicators — no Garmin screens in sight. This is the King Air that veterans of FSX and P3D will remember from Carenado's earlier work, rebuilt for the current generation.

Dual Platform Support

By supporting both MSFS 2020 and 2024, Carenado is acknowledging the reality that not everyone has moved to the newer sim. The 2024 version will take advantage of enhanced physics and the new walkaround camera features, while the 2020 release ensures compatibility for those still on the previous platform.

What to Expect

Carenado has built their reputation on visual polish — high-definition textures, realistic wear-and-tear details, and refined lighting. Based on their track record, this B200 will likely prioritise the "look and feel" of the aircraft, with systems depth aimed at accessibility rather than study-level complexity.

No release date or pricing has been announced yet, but the developer describes the project as "coming soon." We'll keep you posted as more details emerge.
