Burning Blue Design has released Retford Gamston Airport (EGNE) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, continuing their focus on capturing the character of British General Aviation hubs.

A Military Past, A Business Present

Originally a World War II satellite station for RAF Finningley, Gamston has transformed into a central location for flight training and corporate travel in the North of England. It's perhaps best known as the home of Diamond Aircraft UK — their distribution and service center sits right on the field, making it a natural destination for DA40 and DA62 pilots.

The 1,683-meter paved runway accommodates business aircraft like the King Air and Citation series, giving the scenery appeal beyond pure GA flying.

What's Included

Burning Blue has implemented over 80 custom 3D objects using full PBR texturing to replicate the specific weathering and materials found at the actual site:

  • Detailed landmarks — the main control tower, Diamond Aircraft service center, and the Apron Café (a popular fly-in spot)
  • Dynamic elements — animated hangar doors and functional windsocks
  • Environmental accuracy — hundreds of hand-placed assets including fuel pumps, fencing, and airport vehicles

A Growing GA Portfolio

This release sits alongside Burning Blue's previous work at airfields like Farnborough and Solent, offering consistent quality for pilots who prefer short-hop flying within the UK. For simmers looking to expand their regional network, Gamston provides a professional-grade destination bridging the gap between the Midlands and the North.

Retford Gamston is available now from Burning Blue Design directly and from Orbx, with a Marketplace release coming soon.
