BeyondATC Overhauls Arrival Sequencing and Voice System in Major Experimental Update

Version 1.8.0 rewrites the arrival system from scratch with a compression inversion algorithm, expands local voice accents, and fixes the stop-start taxi experience.

BeyondATC has pushed a significant update to its experimental branch that tackles some of the most common complaints about AI air traffic control. Version 1.8.0 isn't a feature patch — it's a structural rethink of how the program handles traffic flow and communication.

New Arrival Sequencer

The headline change is a complete rewrite of the arrival system. If you've ever dealt with conga lines of aircraft bunching up on final approach, this is aimed squarely at that problem.

The new system uses a "compression inversion" algorithm that starts managing traffic spacing from over 100 miles out. By modelling conversion points early, ATC can now issue speed instructions to both player and AI traffic to maintain safe separation. Combined with "Vectoring v3" — a rebuilt navigation logic that accounts for wind, terrain, and even pilot reaction time — the goal is ATC behaviour that feels closer to a real human controller.

Voice Technology Overhaul

BeyondATC is expanding its local voice model significantly, adding accents that were previously only available in the cloud-based "Premium" tier. The plan is to eventually deprecate the "Basic" voices entirely, replacing them with the expanded local models.

This is smart from a sustainability perspective — it reduces reliance on cloud costs while giving users better variety. UK mapping in particular has been updated to better distinguish between English, Irish, and Scottish accents.

Ground Operations

The stop-and-start nature of virtual taxiing gets attention too:

  • Smarter holds — ground control won't constantly stop you if you're already following another aircraft
  • Inactive runway logic — no more hold-short instructions for runways that aren't in use
  • Dynamic braking — post-landing braking now scales based on how close the next arrival is, allowing for longer, more natural rollouts when the sky is clear

What's Next

This experimental build will remain in testing for several weeks before moving to the main Early Access branch. Once stable, the team plans to start replacing the experimental branch with VFR features — the next major milestone on the road to a 1.0 release.

BeyondATC is available as a one-time purchase at $29.99 for the Base Pack, including all future updates and unlimited local voice models.
