BeatMyLanding Brings Scored Landing Competitions to MSFS

A free community tool that scores your MSFS landings on more than just FPM — tracking G-load, bounce count, centreline deviation, and crosswind difficulty — then posts results to global leaderboards.

Vertical speed obsession is real in flight simulation. A new free tool called BeatMyLanding takes that obsession and turns it into something more meaningful than chasing a low FPM number.

Beyond FPM

Available at beatmyland.ing, the tool connects to MSFS via SimConnect, runs quietly in the system tray, and automatically detects each landing. What sets it apart is the scoring system — a penalty-based model across five performance areas:

  • Vertical speed at touchdown
  • Peak G-load during landing
  • Bounce count
  • Centreline deviation
  • Runway alignment relative to heading

Lower score is better, with each factor adding penalty points. This means a butter-smooth landing that drifts off centreline won't beat a slightly firm touchdown that nails the numbers.

Difficulty Matters

The smart addition is a difficulty multiplier based on crosswind strength, tailwind component, and runway slope. The multiplier (capped between 1.00 and 1.45) means a competent landing in challenging conditions can rank above an easy touchdown in calm weather — a much more honest reflection of pilot skill.

Global Leaderboards

Every landing gets submitted automatically to online leaderboards that can be filtered by:

  • Airport ICAO code
  • Aircraft category
  • Time period (weekly, monthly, all-time)

Pilot profiles track personal bests per airport, and a Discord bot can post live results to servers. The scoring formulas are versioned so future improvements won't break historical rankings.

The Post-Landing Toast

The overlay that appears after each landing includes:

  • Wind components
  • FPM and peak G
  • Bounce count and sideslip
  • Centreline and alignment context
  • Rollout rating
  • Even fuel burn and CO2 estimates

BeatMyLanding works with both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, and it's completely free. If you've wanted to turn every approach into something more competitive than a screenshot flex, this is worth the five-minute setup.
