Aeroplane Heaven has released the North American B-25J Mitchell for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, adding another iconic warbird to the growing collection of WWII-era aircraft available in the sim.

The Mitchell holds a special place in aviation history — it served in every theater of the Second World War, but is perhaps best known for the Doolittle Raid of April 1942, when 16 B-25Bs launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet to strike mainland Japan just months after Pearl Harbor. It was an audacious operation that proved the Japanese homeland was vulnerable to air attack.

What's in the Package

Aeroplane Heaven's rendition features highly detailed modelling and texturing throughout, staying true to the developer's "high definition tribute" approach. The package includes the standard B-25J variant along with a special Doolittle Raider edition, giving history buffs the chance to recreate one of aviation's most legendary missions.

Sound design has been handled by Echo 19, who've captured the distinctive rumble of the Mitchell's twin Wright R-2600 Cyclone radial engines. If you've flown Aeroplane Heaven's Lancaster Bomber — their previous warbird release — you'll have a good idea of the quality level to expect.

A Growing Warbird Collection

The B-25J continues Aeroplane Heaven's commitment to bringing historically significant military aircraft to the Microsoft Flight Simulator platform. For warbird enthusiasts, this is another solid addition to a category that's been steadily growing in quality and variety.
